Position : Finance Manager Purpose of Position
To oversee the effective delivery of the mandate of the Finance Department by being responsible for the day to day accounting and financial management of the company, and also to play a lead role in budgeting and reporting on financial performance to Management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to management while recommending further courses of action.
- Provide sound, accurate and timely financial advice to management, to cover treasury (bank account and cash management, cash flow forecasts), expenditure management, CAPEX procedures, fixed assets management and inventory
- Ensure the treasury function (e.g. cash and bank balances, accounts payable, accounts receivable, borrowings) are carried out effectively, managing appropriate financial risk in accordance with the company’s policies and ensuring that treasury arrangement have an appropriate balance of risk and return. Assume creativity in the management of borrowing costs.
- Manage the day to day adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and financial control systems; supervise the company's financial accounting and reporting systems. • Develop trends and projections, and provide advice on cost reduction opportunities.
- Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation and advice appropriately (e.g. exchange rate regulations, financial reporting standards, etc.)
- Advice on end-to-end supply chain financing activities to ensure company obtains value for money. E.g. example which financing option to use in a given procurement activity, controlling advance payments and ensuring maximum use of credit.
- Ensure financial data integrity by supervising the input and processing of financial information into the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning System (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
- Effectively manage financial relationships - e.g. banking relationships, external auditors, et.
- Follow up to ensure audit recommendations are dealt with in a timely manner
- Manage the training, development and performance of the finance team, e.g. set targets and goals; manage performance through coaching, mentoring , and recommending appropriate training programs.
- Coordinate adhoc financial projects, e.g. enhancement to reporting systems, bank payment systems integration, etc.
- Manage audits (annual and regular) of the company’s financial information in the most effective manner.
- Undertake other assignments as may assigned by supervisor from time to time
Key Performance Areas
- 100% compliance with accurate recording and reconciliation of imprest and bank transactions and reporting on weekly and monthly basis
- Accurate update of all financial records on the company’s Accounting Application within 24hrs of receipt
- Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports of funds receipts and utilisation – due succeeding COB 1st working day respectively
- Zero delays in paying suppliers as per agreed payment terms
- At least 90% Audit Score Rating and 100% audit findings resolved by deadline
- Generation of error free daily, weekly and monthly receipt and payment report, by COB for daily reports and 2nd day of succeeding week and month
- Integrity of documentation and filing system
- At least 90% achievement of all direct reports’ KPIs
- 100% compliance with documented timeline Commitments (Tasks/Assignments and To-Dos from meetings) as instructed by FD
